The Nasiona

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The Nasiona is a movement and non-profit organization that advocates for and centers, elevates, and amplifies the personal stories and concerns of survivors of oppressive systems and of those Otherized by dominant cultures.

Our work centers decolonization, liberation, empowerment, healing, and transformation. Through our magazine, podcast, publishing house, mentorship program, BIPOC music series, live events, along with other initiatives and partnerships, we strive to humanize the Other.

In an age when telling the difference between reality and delusion is frighteningly labyrinthine, we focus on creative works based on facts, truth-seeking, human concerns, real events, and real people, with a personal touch.

From liminal lives to the marginalized, and everything in between, we promote nonfiction, autobiographical stories and conduct interviews that explore the spectrum of human experience through an intersectional, decolonial, and anti-capitalist lens. We believe that the subjective can offer its own reality and reveal truths some facts can’t discover.

We’re a diversity-friendly organization that values multicultural and multi-experience perspectives on what it means to be human. We strive to erase borders, tackle taboos, resist conventions, explore the known and unknown, and to rename ourselves to claim ourselves and to re-inhabit ourselves.

Response Times:

We are a small, volunteer-led organization, but promise to read, listen to, and/or watch every piece you submit. Given those constraints, however, it may take a few months respond. We will consider your work for one of our upcoming four seasonal issues.

Contributor Rights and Payment:

It is free to submit. Note, however, that we will only charge a submission fee when we've surpassed our Submittable allotted 100 free submissions per month. We pay $15 for each piece selected for publication.

The Nasiona retains standard first publication rights (if applicable). All rights immediately revert to the storyteller upon publication. We just ask that you credit The Nasiona as the first publisher (if applicable).
